The first day of summer is here! Let’s celebrate with some delicious wines to taste at The Spicy Olive!

Our selections for the last two weeks of June are:

From New Zealand:

Craggy Range Sauvignon Blanc

From Austria:

Pannonica White (Gruner Veltliner, Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay

Pannonica Red (Zweigelt, Blaufrankisch and Pinot Noir)

Wine tastings from 4-7pm on Thursday and Friday and 3-6pm on Saturday. $1-3 per taste.

Stop in to try these lovely wines! Also next Thursday instead of a regular wine tasting we are having our Wine Experience! $35 per person for great summer food paired with great wines for hot weather entertaining!

June Flavors of the Month on Fox 19!

Melanie Cedargren was on the Fox 19 morning show demonstrating 3 great ways to use the June flavors of the month, Cascadian Wild Raspberry white balsamic vinegar and Basil olive oil, to flavor up the summer! These delicious products are 10% off all month!

Melanie used the Cascadian Raspberry balsamic to make a The Spicy Olive’s Restive Raspberry Spinach Salad and a Raspberry Mojito! She used the Basil olive oil to make a take on the classic Caprese Salad! You will want to add these recipes to your summer entertaining!

Wine Experiences at The Spicy Olive !

Starting in June,  the 4th Thursday of each month , The Spicy Olive will host a wine experience with food pairings! Each Experience will have a theme:

June 28th: Perfect Wines for Porch Sipping and Summer Entertaining

July 27th: Wines for Summer BBQ’s

August 24th: Italian Wines and Food Pairings

September 28th: Great Wines for Tailgating and Fall

October 25th: Ghostly Gulps- Good wines & treats for Halloween

November 15th: Holiday Wines and Entertaining

The Wine Experiences are $35 per person and include 4 wines to taste, 3 food courses and recipes so you can prepare the food at home for your own celebrations!

The class on May 31, 2018 at the Austin Landing store features Chef and herb expert, Rita Heikenfeld, preparing a Middle Eastern Feast. Rita will incorporate The Spicy Olive’s delicious olive oils and balsamic vinegars into her family recipes! Join us for a great evening on May 31st!

The Spicy Olive and BioPhenols

If you have been into one of the three Spicy Olive locations recently to try out our fresh new Northern Hemisphere olive oils, you may have noticed that our fusti tags now show Biophenol counts instead of polyphenol levels. What is this all about?

Phenols are the components in olive oil that deliver health benefits. The North American Olive Oil Council has adopted a standard of measurement for olive oils and it wants biophenol levels to be reflected. We are following that protocol. For example, oleocanthal is a potent bio phenol found in olive oil and is involved in the anti inflammatory affect of olive oil. This phenol is included in our bio phenol count among many others (as it was in previous years). It does not change anything in the long run, you may notice that our counts are a bit higher than they used to be because we are using this new standard.

Tax Day Is Here! Have Some “Grape Therapy” at The Spicy Olive

The tax deadline is here, so to calm your nerves, The Spicy Olive is featuring “Grape Therapy” this weekend! A little “Grape Therapy” is always welcome near Tax Day. Your accountant is finished and your Wine Doctor (Sommelier) is in! Prescriptions of Red, White or Rose for continued home therapy are available in 750ml or larger bottles!
